Scope:
This page details my process of patterning, adjusting, and sewing upcycled sweatpants. Made from a mix of thrifted corduroy pants, fleeces, and sweatshirts, these pants were an experiment in sustainability and upcycled fashion created in my dorm room at college.

On my first attempt, I tried to copy a pair of Nike sweatpants. I struggled to get accurate measurements though because the front and back panels could not lay completely flat.
I learned a lot from this version. They were significantly smaller than I had intended and the cuffs were too tight. I compared this version to a larger pair of North Face pants and created a pattern to compare the measurements.
This helped significantly with the planning of the panels, gave me exact measurements of length and width, and allowed me to add simple pockets into the seams. Additionally, because I had an accurate waist measurement, I used the elastic from a hoodie as the waistband and added a drawstring.
